How to Install eSIM on Android

Install a VAYO eSIM on Android from Settings → Network & internet (or Connections on Samsung), add a SIM, and scan the carrier QR code from your email. Steps vary slightly by brand but follow the same QR-provisioning flow.

How do I add a VAYO eSIM on Android?

After checkout, open Settings, find SIM or mobile network settings, and choose Add eSIM or Scan carrier QR code. Scan the VAYO QR, confirm, then set that line as the preferred data SIM when you arrive. The phone must be unlocked and eSIM-compatible.

Installation steps — Most Android phones

Open Settings

Tap the Settings app (gear icon) on your home screen or app drawer.

Go to Network & Internet

Tap Network & Internet or Connections. The exact name varies by manufacturer.

Open SIM card settings

Tap SIMs, SIM card manager, or Mobile network.

Add eSIM

Tap the + icon or Add SIM / Add eSIM / Add mobile plan.

Scan the QR code

Select Scan carrier QR code. Open your VAYO email on another device and hold the phone camera over the QR code.

You cannot scan from the same screen you're using. Use another phone, tablet, or computer screen.

Confirm installation

Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm adding the eSIM plan. The profile will download and install within seconds.

Set as preferred data SIM

In SIM card manager, set the VAYO eSIM as your Mobile data SIM. Leave your primary SIM as the Calls and SMS SIM.

Samsung Galaxy — Installation steps

Open Settings

Open the Settings app.

Go to Connections

Tap Connections.

Open SIM card manager

Tap SIM card manager.

Add eSIM

Tap Add eSIM or tap the + icon at the top right.

Scan the QR code

Tap Scan QR code from service provider. Hold your Samsung's camera over the VAYO QR code displayed on another device.

Confirm

Follow the on-screen instructions. Tap Confirm when asked to add the new plan.

Set VAYO as data SIM

Back in SIM card manager, tap Mobile data and select the VAYO eSIM. Your existing SIM stays active for calls.

Open the Settings app.

Tap Network & internet.

Tap SIMs.

Add a SIM

Tap the + icon (top right) or Add SIM.

Scan the QR code

Tap Next and point the camera at your VAYO QR code on another screen.

Confirm activation

Tap Activate and wait a few seconds for the profile to install.

Set VAYO as data SIM

Tap the new VAYO SIM in the SIM list and set it as the Mobile data SIM.

Troubleshooting

Can't find the eSIM option in Settings
Not all Android phones support eSIM even if they look identical to a model that does — some regional variants lack eSIM hardware. Check our compatible devices list to confirm your exact model.
QR code scan fails or times out
Make sure the QR code is well-lit and fills the scan frame. Avoid scanning screenshots — view the original email on a second device. Alternatively, enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually.
eSIM installed but no data
Ensure the VAYO plan is set as your mobile data SIM in SIM card manager. Check that roaming is enabled: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming (on).
"Failed to add mobile plan" error
This often means your device is carrier-locked. Contact your carrier to unlock the device. It can also happen if the QR code was already used — contact VAYO support.
Slow or no network in destination country
Toggle Airplane Mode on and off to force a fresh network registration. If the problem persists, manually select a carrier under Settings → Mobile networks → Network operators.
